  • Thayananthan Baskaran I Partner, Baskaran

Thayananthan Baskaran is a partner with Baskaran, Kuala Lumpur, and a barrister and Head of Southeast Asia at International Construction Chambers, London. Thaya’s primary area of practice is construction law. He drafts various building and engineering contracts, advises on disputes arising from such contracts, and appears as counsel to resolve these disputes. Thaya also sits as an adjudicator, arbitrator, and mediator.

Thaya is the author of Arbitration in Malaysia: A Commentary on the Malaysian Arbitration Act (Wolters Kluwer 2019). Thaya was the Chair of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Malaysia Branch (2017-19) and the President of the Society of Construction Law Malaysia (2016-17). Thaya is the Chair of the Editorial Board of Construction Law International, the magazine of the International Bar Association International Construction Projects Committee. Thaya has been recommended by Lexology Index/Who’s Who Legal Arbitration and included in the Legal 500 Arbitration Private Practice Powerlist: Southeast Asia Region. Thaya was educated at St John’s Institution, Kuala Lumpur, read law at King’s College, London, studied construction engineering at Queens’ College, Cambridge, and was called to the Bar by Gray’s Inn.


SPEAKERS

  • Rajendra Navaratnam I Partner, Azman Davidson & Co.

Rajendra Navaratnam is a dual qualified lawyer with a first degree in Electrical Engineering, and over 35 years of experience as a lawyer, arbitrator and adjudicator.

Rajendra practises primarily in the areas of technology-related law, in particular construction, insurance and intellectual property law. He acts as counsel in court up to the apex Federal Court in Malaysia.

He is on the panel major arbitral institutions in the region, sits primarily in AIAC, SIAC and ICC arbitrations, and appears as counsel in both international (including investment. treaty) and domestic arbitrations.

He is an immediate past Court member for Malaysia in the ICC Court of Arbitration, Paris, a past chairman of the CIArb Malaysia Branch, is a member of the Arbitration and Construction Law Committee of the Malaysian Bar Council, member of the Contracts and Practices Committee, Master Builders Association of Malaysia (MBAM) and was a past Council Member of the Society of Construction Law Malaysia.


  • Sudharsanan Thillainathan I Partner, Adnan Sundra & Low

Sudhar Thillainathan is a Partner of Adnan Sundra & Low and an arbitrator with Nine Arbitration Chambers, Singapore.

He acts as counsel and arbitrator in domestic and international disputes, with a particular interest in cross-border matters in Asia.

He sits on the arbitrator panels of the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (AAA-ICDR) and the China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC).

A Past President of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (2018–2019), he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators, the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution and the Malaysian Society of Adjudicators.


  • Shannon Rajan I Partner, Christopher & Lee Ong

Shannon Rajan is a Disputes Partner at Christopher & Lee Ong with close to 20 years’ experience in complex construction, engineering, and infrastructure disputes. His practice spans major projects across aviation, ports, rail, highways, and data centres, with expertise in FIDIC, PAM, IEM, and P.W.D. standard-form contracts. He acts as counsel, arbitrator, mediator, and adjudicator in all forms of dispute resolution processes.

His accolades include recognition as a Lexology Index Recommended Lawyer in Construction (2025 & 2026), recipient of the Lexology Client Choice Award 2024 for Construction in Malaysia, and Commended External Counsel of the Year (2017–2019) by the In-House Community.

He combines technical precision, strategic risk management and commercial acumen to resolve complex disputes, protect clients’ interests and safeguard project value.
